We’re huge Will Ferrell fans here at Roddy Reviews. I still quote Anchorman on an almost daily basis and most questions I answer in chats and messages can be (and are) replied to with Anchorman GIFs.
You almost know what you are getting with Will Ferrell (in the same way as you do with Jason Statham) and while a comedy series surrounding golf might sound predictable or uninteresting - I loved every minute.
Will Ferrell stars as Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, a former golfing superstar who was once ranked the number one player in the world but is now very much on the back nine of his career.
More than 20 years on from his glory days, Lonnie's body might be telling him that it's time to retire, but he certainly isn't listening. There's still one major championship missing from his collection and, if he can somehow win it, he'll finally complete golf's Grand Slam.
The problem is that almost everyone around him — including his estranged wife Stacy and his son Lance, who has become a successful professional golfer himself — seems to think Lonnie's best days are well behind him.
Lonnie has other ideas.
What follows is a typically outrageous Will Ferrell comedy as "The Hawk" attempts to launch one final comeback, dragging his rather dysfunctional family and everyone else around him along for the ride.
I hope we get a second season because this one was a lot of fun to watch and sometimes you just need a silly follow along show to watch. If you are a Will Ferrell fan, you’ll love it, if you don’t like his vibe you’ll score it much lower but its a solid 7.4/10 from me.
