As much as Amazon Prime Video is falling behind Netflix in particular - it does seem to do well on Quality over Quantity.
Young Sherlock, is essentially the origin story of the Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street, that most of us know about. It’s set in the late 1800’s and follows our troubled young Sherlock when he becomes embroiled in a murder case, and this sets the scene for his attempts at solving his first case.
Each episode is an adventure in itself and all continue on the same story. We get to understand his family situation, watch as relationships unfurl and enjoy a really good combination of humour, fun, mystery and adventure…with a sprinkling of Whodunnit.
You might think that young Sherlock looks really familiar - and that’s because you may well have seen him before. He was Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the adults reading this might not realise he appeared in the brilliant “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” a couple of years ago (featuring Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson). Fun fact - he is also the nephew of actor - Joseph Fiennes.
If you liked ‘Ripper Street’, which was another fantastic Series from Amazon Prime Video that ran from 2012 - 2016 (hard to believe it was 10 years ago) or if you are a fan of the Enola Holmes movie on Netflix - then this should be right up your street.
One of the best, easy-to-watch shows of 2026 so far - a note-worthy 7.7/10 for this one - give it a watch if it sounds like your cup of tea.
