Deep Cover is a silly, fun and funny action/crime comedy with a good cast - full of cameos - who must have had a lot of fun filming this one.
To very quickly summarise without giving anything away…the movie follows 3 improv actors, who end up being tasked to go undercover by the police - to assist with bringing down the crime gangs in the city.
It’s really easy to watch, there are such stupid and simple laugh-out-loud moments and there isn’t too much more you really need to know about it. The timing of the release is really great if you’ve finished watching the likes of more gritty Brit shows like Mobland - as Paddy Considine plays a similar character but in a much more comedic role.
It doesn’t get the best scores with critics and it won’t necessarily become a comedy classic that you’ll want to watch over and over, but in the current movie landscape, it’s one of the better releases available on streaming sites and is definitely worth a watch - especially if you are looking for something easy and fun to watch this weekend. You can follow along whilst doom-scrolling in the background - but you might miss some laugh out loud moments.
