Hugh Grant has lunged far away from the Rom-Coms from the early 2000’s that we know him best from.
In this psychological-thriller/horror called Heretic, we get to witness a different side to Hugh Grant’s acting and he’s more than convincing playing the psychopath!
It’s a simple, easy to watch thriller-come-horror, that follows two young Mormon missionaries - who knock on the wrong door whilst canvassing for conversions to their religious practice.
Hugh Grant plays Mr Reed, who is the young religious ladies last call of the day and it just so happens that a storm is coming in when they get to his house. Behind his locked door, a cat and mouse type ordeal plays out that tests the girls faith to its limits.
It’s not scary as such, but its creepy - so if you want dark but not jump scare - this is a really good watch.
With thrillers and horrors - you expect the worst and we don’t really know how this will pan out.
It’s a small cast and even with being confined to one property it’s a really good watch….(unlike Flight Risk).
The storyline is good, the filming and lighting is excellent, the acting is really good too!
It’s a solid 7.2/10 for this one if you like the genre - and if you have a partner who isn’t into horror, they should be able to stomach this one - but maybe don’t watch it with them right before bed.
