A Man on the Inside - Season 1 (2024)
AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX
Rated 12
On occasion, a TV Show will sneak under the radar and we won’t have seen or heard anything about it - A Man on the Inside is one of those shows.
We only came to hear about it because Season 2 has just been released on Netflix and was showing up on our home page - so we decided to have an impromptu binge of Season 1 - and managed it all in one evening.
I used to love ‘Cheers’ back in the day and have always had a soft spot for Ted Danson, so when the wife and I were looking for something easy to watch, with short episodes (30 mins) - this popped up and after watching the trailer - we decided to give it a go.
It is funny, silly and heart-warming - all at the same. It’s a bit of a ‘whodunnit’ as well but it’s more enjoyable to watch the story unfold, enjoy the characters and their relationships, than it is putting too much time into trying to solve the mystery yourself.
The co-creator of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ is behind this one, so if you like those shows - there is a sprinkle of those, in this.
To very simply sum it up, Ted Danson plays Charles - a lonely, retired Professor - who gets a new purpose in life, when he applies for a job advertised in the local newspaper - by a private investigator. After passing his interview, his job is to infiltrate a local nursing home and report his findings back - to help solve the mystery of stolen jewellery.
If it wasn’t for His and Hers being so good (and my suspicion that more people would be looking for a ‘serious’ show to watch), A Man on the Inside could have been our TV Series of the Month for February - but just misses out. It is an excellent show and I’m very much looking forward to the newly released Season 2 (which looks to have an impressive cameo cast - which is a testament to how good Season 1 is) - a note-worthy 8.0/10 for this one - give it a watch.
Further good news is that we understand it has been passed for a third season!
