Clarkson’s Farm was a revelation when the first series aired. An army of Petrol Head fans were forced to ditch cars for tractor’s to get their Jeremy Clarkson fix, following the end of the fantastic Grand Tour and I think everyone was surprised at just how good this show ended up being.
If you don’t know, Jeremy Clarkson is a somewhat outspoken tv star, following years on Top Gear and The Grand Tour. Following the retirement of a farmer running a Farm he owned, Jeremy decided to giving Farming a go himself.
As a person with no apparent farming experience, we get to experience Jeremy struggle with what our nations farmers are contending with every day and it makes for a great watch. He hires local young farmer - Kaleb Cooper and Kaleb blossoms, while managing his novice, much older apprentice/boss.
The show becomes very endearing - we see the frailties in farming, we are entertained by Jeremy’s approach and the calamity that follows most of his decisions. Season 4 brings us more of the same and it’s great. We meet a new “character”, whilst Kaleb is touring the nation and we continue to see Jeremy attempt to put his ideas into practice, to making not just his own farm successful but also in attempts to help his farming community.
It’s a great watch and great entertainment. It’s a easy binge and as well as the laugh out loud moments that typically occur when something goes wrong, there are heart warming moments too. Obviously with the tv show and his personal wealth, Jeremy Clarkson has the ability to try many more ideas that the everyday farmer - which you can fully understand and appreciate - but it’s one of our favourites and we’re delighted to know there’s a 5th season in the making too. A well-deserved 8.6/10 from us.
