The Last of Us first hit our screens in early 2023 and was a massive hit. If you are a fan of Movies like I Am Legend, World War Z or Shows like The Walking Dead etc - The Last of Us will be right up your street.

If you didn’t watch Season 1 - go back and binge on it first as you need the backstory and if you did watch Season 1 the first time round, make sure you watch the recap of Season 1 before watching Season 2 - without realising, you will have forgotten most of what happened.

The Last of Us is based in 2023 - 20 years after a global pandemic, where a fungus has infected most of the worlds population, turning them into zombies. It follows the story of Pedro Pascals character (Joel Miller), who is hired by a group of survivors to smuggle a 14 year old girl (played by Bella Ramsey) to them, as they believe she might hold the key to the survival of humanity.

Season 2 picks up 4/5 years after the events of Season 2, where the 14 year old - Ellie, is now a 19 year old. She seems to hold resentment against Joel (Pedro Pascal) and there is an awkwardness and distrust in the relationship now. We struggled to find the same enthusiasm for the show in Season 2 after a pretty dull first episode back but be patient if you feel the same, things heat up big-style in episode 2. Episodes are currently being released 1 week at a time, so we look forward to seeing how the season keeps up the pace after the second episode.

We’re sitting at 7.6/10 for Season 2 so far but we hope it continues to improve after the slow start of Episode 1.
