Another star-studded movie from the folks at Amazon Prime Video - for those of us that feel we maybe haven’t been getting the same value from Amazon Prime TV as other streaming services of late!
Crime 101 is based in LA and follows Chris Hemsworth’s character - Mike Davis - who is a meticulous thief.
He carefully plans all of his jewellery heists to ensure no violence, no DNA evidence left and he always makes the perfect getaway via the US Route 101 motorway.
He has a ‘fixer’ who provides him with these heist opportunities and while carrying out his latest heist - it doesn’t go entirely to plan and Mike is left shaken after being grazed by an unexpected bullet. He then calls off a further planned robbery - much to the annoyance of his fixer - who then employs the untamed and volatile character played excellently by Barry Keoghan to hijack the heists and things get messy from there and needless to say the relationship between Mike and his fixer, ends.
Add in LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick (played by Mark Ruffalo) linking the latest heist to a string of unsolved robberies and getting on the case and then there is the further intertwining of storylines with the bringing in of a love interest for Mike, with the introduction of Sharon (played by Halle Berry) - a disillusioned, high-end insurance broker, who he meets when she accidentally rear-ends Mike’s car.
Slick, dark, entertaining and well-acted heist-thriller! Easy to watch, very entertaining and a better-than-decent 7.0/10 from us for this one. Worth a watch.
