The movie poster doesn’t give too much away other than a couple of well known stars are found in this one - those stars being Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban.
The Movie itself is essentially a Pirate Movie and is set in 1846’s - towards the end of the Golden Age of Pirate Activity.
The storyline follows Ercell (Priyanka) - a mum, who is living a peaceful life in the Cayman Islands - awaiting the return of her husband from his seafaring travels.
You won’t be surprised to hear that the quiet life does not last long, when the ruthless pirate Captain Connor (Karl Urban) intercepts her husbands ship and finds gold with his old insignia on it, which sets up his mission to seek revenge and recover his missing treasure.
Captain Connor and his band of buccaneers, invade her island in this revenge quest and Ercell is forced to protect herself and her loved ones from these ruthless marauders - when we learn that she herself - was once a skilled, notorious, former pirate!
I do love a pirate themed show or movie and actually thought this was a series when I first saw the trailers.
Personally, I think it would have done much better as series - to give time for all the character back stories to be better explored and expanded upon, whereas the movie itself felt far too rushed.
That being said, it’s an easy and entertaining watch and gets a worth-a-watch but not to get too overexcited about 6.1/10 .
