Leanne (2025)

AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX

Rated 12

Watching Leanne, gave me hope that there might be hope yet for the sitcom genre - that seems to have been dying a slow death in recent years.

Leanne Morgan (Comedian) plays Leanne - a Grandmother, who’s life is turned upside down after her husband of over 30 years, leaves her. The show navigates through her getting on with her life, with the ‘help’ of her loved ones.

With it being a sitcom, I don’t want to give too much away but as you’ll know if you’re also from the sitcom era - there is usually a somewhat different storyline each episode but there is always the main running story, that is the backbone of the series and allows a natural progression of the story we are introduced to.

It’s a really easy watch - it doesn’t take any effort and you have a whopping 17 episodes to work your way through, at whatever pace you like. Whether you want to curl up on the sofa under a blanket with a hot drink or just something pleasant to watch in the background, as you scroll through your phone after a hard days work this is a good one for the imminent cooler Autumn evenings.

There are some familiar faces, such as Leanne’s on-screen sister - played by Kristen Johnston - who I best remember from the under-rated ‘3rd Rock from the Sun’ sitcom of the late 90’s. There’s also Leanne’s on-screen (separated) husband played by fellow comedian Ryan Stiles - who I best know from ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’.

It’s an easy, fun, goofy, maybe somewhat relatable show - that I believe has been renewed for a second season (TBC) and a it’s an easy 7.2/10.
